Improving Our Public Transportation

The chronic underfunding of our public transport system as well as the roads and bridges,
has over the years resulted in poor service and deteriorating infrastructure. We all have at times
faced long, and sometimes unmanageable, travel options even within Baltimore County. The
Key Bridge collapse in 2024 is just one example which may have been prevented with proper
oversight and investment.

Unfortunately, our blue-collar neighborhoods, and especially majority-minority neighborhoods,
bear the brunt of this problem, facing longer travel times and consequently limited access to
employment in areas with limited public transport options.

Dr. Jay would support the full implementation of the BMORE BUS plan proposed by MTA in June
2025, which aims to improve the public transportation system by increasing bus routes, linking
different public transport options like the Metro and Light Rail, and providing complimentary
bus shuttle service for certain areas.
